The Asia Pacific region (APAC) American region is forecast to maintain the lead in relative market share throughout the forecast period; however growing at a slightly slower pace than the EMEA region.  In general, the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa countries) has been a bit slower to embrace some of the LED lighting solutions versus other regions; however, the trend is changing and the EMEA consumption is set to increase at a steady pace.

NCSDIn Cooperation With The China CDM Fund And CCTV Launch The Production Of A Documentary

PRLog (Press Release)– Apr 25, 2011– (BEIJING, CHINA, April 20, 2011) – The National Center for Sustainable Development, a Washington, D.C. based 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization ("NCSD") is proud to announce its participation in a first of its kind collaboration between China and the U.S., in the production of a documentary that the NCSD, as the international partner to China Central Television is co-producing with China Central Television, Science and Education Programming Center ("CCTV") on the subject of global climate change that examines its historical record and its evolving impact on the earth's environment and global populations.

The title of the documentary is:

"Warm and Cold We Share Together... A Civilization Journey of Climate"

As part of its on-going capacity building efforts with the China Clean Development Mechanism Fund ("CDMFund") under the China-U.S. Low Carbon Development Cooperation Program  (the "Program") for high-level bi-lateral cooperation between China and the U.S. on sustainable low carbon development, the NCSD is a key sponsor of the documentary, along with the China CDMFund, the State Council Information Office of the PRC, the National Development and Reform Commission ("NDRC") and the China Meteorological Administration, and a co-producer of the documentary along with CCTV and Beijing Huafeng Group of Meteorological Audio & Video Information.

On April 14, 2011, CCTV, in association with the NDRC and other sponsors, held a press conference in Beijing, China to officially announce the launch of the production of "Warm and Cold, We Share Together... A Civilization Journey of Climate," a 12-episode TV series documentary that examines the history of the relationship between humankind and nature...global climate change and its evolving impact on the earth's environment and global populations is an integral part of this history, and also the essential reason for the birth of this documentary.

The documentary is being filmed in 10 countries, and has already been completed in China, Mongolia, Kenya, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, with the filming in the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark and Norway taking place from May through June of this year.

The documentary will be showcased this fall at the global climate gathering in November in South Africa by the President of China, Hu Jintao.  The documentary will subsequently be released in early 2012 simultaneously in China on CCTV's channels nationwide and by the NCSD in an English-language version and other languages for world-wide release (ex-China).

Most of these tips will give you a very slight increase in MPG -- but use several together and the gas mileage improvements will really add up.

1. Avoid High Speeds As your speed increases, your aerodynamic drag increases in an exponential fashion. Driving 62 mph vs 75 mph  will reduce fuel consumption by about 15%.

2. Do Not Accelerate or Brake Hard By anticipating the traffic and applying slow steady acceleration and braking, fuel economy may increase by as much as 20%.

3. Keep Tires Properly Inflated Keep tire air pressure at the level recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. A single tire under inflated by 2 PSI, increases fuel consumption by 1%. Fixing a s corsa erious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.

You can improve your gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.3 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer

6. Service Vehicle Regularly Proper maintenance avoids poor fuel economy related to dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels.

Keep Your Engine Properly Tuned: Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, though results vary based on the kind of repair and how well it is done.

Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.

Use the Recommended Grade of Motor Oil: You can improve your gas mileage by 1–2 percent by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. For example, using 10W-30 motor oil in an engine designed to use 5W-30 can lower your gas mileage by 1–2 percent. Using 5W-30 in an engine designed for 5W-20 can lower your gas mileage by 1–1.5 percent. Also, look for motor oil that says "Energy Conserving" on the API performance symbol to be sure it contains friction-reducing additives.

7. Use Cruise Control Maintaining a constant speed over long distances often saves gas.

8. Avoid Heavy Loads Remove the sand bags from your trunk in the spring and pack lightly for long trips.

PRLog (Press Release)– Apr 20, 2011– We forecast that Bahrain will account for 0.56% of Middle East regional oil demand by 2015, while providing 0.33% of supply. Middle East regional oil use rose to an estimated 7.4mn b/d in 2010. It should average 7.7mn barrels per day (b/d) in 2011 and then climb to around 8.7mn b/d by 2015. Regional oil production was 22.83mn b/d in 2001 and averaged an estimated 24.9mn b/d in 2010. After an estimated 25.21mn b/d in 2011, it is set to rise to 27.24mn b/d by 2015. Oil exports are growing steadily, because demand growth is lagging the pace of supply expansion. In 2001, the region acura was exporting an average of 17.85mn b/d. This total will have eased to an estimated 17.50mn b/d in 2010 and is forecast to reach 18.54mn b/d by 2015. Bahrain's real GDP rose by an estimated 1.3% in 2010, with average annual growth of 4.7% forecast in 2010-2015. Consumption of oil is set to rise with the moderate growth of the economy, reaching a maximum of 49,000b/d by 2015. The state accounts for all domestic oil and gas production, as well as the refining and distribution segment. International oil company (IOC) involvement is somewhat limited. Thanks to modest resource potential and few large-scale IOC upstream ventures, crude and liquids output is now averaging about 58,000b/d, with potential to reach 90,000b/d by 2015. Gas output is set to increase from an estimated 13.2bcm in 2010 to 16.7bcm by 2015, with imports of 1.0bcm required by the end of the forecast period.

Between 2010 and 2020, we are forecasting an increase in Bahrain oil production of 81.8%, with crude volumes doubling to 100,000b/d before the end of the 10-year forecast period. Oil consumption between 2010 and 2020 is set to increase by 38.1%, with growth at an assumed 3% per annum towards the end of the period and the country using 58,000b/d by 2020. Gas production is expected to climb towards 18bcm by 2019/20. With 2010-2020 demand growth of 79.1%, this provides an import requirement of around 5.9bcm by 2020. Details of BMI's 10-year forecasts can be found in the appendix to this report.

Bahrain now shares sixth place with Oman in BMI's composite Business Environment (BE) ratings table, which combines upstream and downstream scores. The country this quarter retains fifth place in BMI's updated upstream Business Environment ratings, and is five points above Iran. It has held this position in spite of its very modest oil and gas reserves, but thanks to an improving production growth outlook. There are low reserves-to-production ratios (RPR) and modest non-state involvement in the upstream segment. The country's risk environment is very sound, but this may prove insufficient to help Bahrain move further up the league table. Bahrain now shares sixth place with Qatar in BMI's updated downstream Business Environment ratings, with few high scores and no further progress up the rankings likely. It scores 46 points, above Kuwait, thanks to modest refining capacity, oil and gas demand, population and the privatisation trend. The growth prospects for oil/gas consumption and refining capacity are reasonable, offsetting the pedestrian increase in GDP per capita.

As the US continues to target the Iranian shipping sector with stringent sanctions in a bid to halt the Islamic Republic's alleged nuclear-weapons development programme, the nation's shipping companies are finding it increasingly difficult to operate. BMI notes, however, that the sanctions have not brought the nation's carriers to a complete standstill and that the government is looking for ways to increase throughput at Iranian ports.

South Korean shipyard Hyundai Mipo Dockyard announced that it is to stop constructing seven vessels that were ordered by the Iranian shipping company in June 2008. The 33,770 deadweight tonne (DWT) bulkers were signed for by IRISL for US$292mn. However, it seems the company is now no longer able to pay for the work. US sanctions against IRISL, which the US claims is instrumental in supporting Iran's alleged nuclear weapons programme through providing transportation and logistics, prohibit providing any sort of financing to the shipping company.

Key Risks To Outlook

The sanctions imposed on Iran provide considerable risk to our forecasts. With the nuclear-energy development programme, which the Iranians insist is not for the development of weapons, elevated to the status of a national cause, it seems unlikely that it will be dropped anytime soon. Equally determined are the US and its allies; as such the uncertainty brought about by the sanctions is likely to continue for some time.

Equally, as Iran is so reliant on the export of its oil to feed its economy, any fluctuation in the price of fossil fuels could provide risk to our projections.

Market Report, "Singapore Shipping Report Q2 2011", published

PRLog (Press Release)– Apr 01, 2011– Singapore's economy will perform well this year, despite easing back on the exceptionally strong showing achieved in 2010. Some form of cooling off had been on the cards for 2011 given the expected slowdown in the global economy, but BMI's view remains quite bullish. The US and Chinese economies - important drivers of growth in Singapore - will play a more positive role than we had earlier expected. At the end of last year we raised our forecast for GDP growth in the US; in China on the other hand, it is possible that the Beijing authorities will tighten monetary policy less than expected, meaning that growth there too could end up b alfa romeo eing stronger than originally projected. So the picture for Singapore points to fairly vigorous manufacturing and services growth, continuing high employment, and a positive contribution by net exports to GDP, albeit much less so than in 2010. BMI forecasts 2011 GDP growth of 5% in Singapore (following on from the spectacular 15% achieved in 2010 when the country was recovering vigorously from the global recession in the preceding year). The economy will then ease off a little to 3.9% growth in 2012. In the five years to 2015 we expect growth to average 4.3% per annum.
