"We are thrilled to celebrate the culmination of what has been an extremely successful renovation project. During a difficult time in the economy, the BID financed, designed and built its first major streetscape project in 20 years", said CCNBID President and CEO Julie Bender. "The improvements will serve Cherry Creek North and its visitors for many years to come. The BID is grateful to NorthCreek for providing the entertainment for this event."
"The New North" improvements include landscaping to beautify the area and conserve water, new lighting for safety and energy conservation, better identity and way-finding signs, 20 Art and Garden places and upgraded infrastructure. The final element was Fillmore Plaza, which has been redesigned as a hybrid plaza to enhance pedestrian, event and retail activity. Upgraded features include special trees and landscaping, lighting, environmental graphics, street furniture and a central canopy-like shade structure. The new plaza will provide vehicula aston martin r access and will also have the ability to be closed off throughout the year for events such as the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Sidewalk Sale, Cherry Creek North Food & Wine, and other CCN activities. The design and construction costs for the entire project were funded by the BID through the sale of its own bonds. No City funds were used. The BID worked with NorthCreek and AEG Live to bring a broad spectrum of music artists to the festival on June 25th.
"Flash Cadillac is a legendary band that has performed for over 40 years", said Chuck Morris, President and CEO / AEG LIVE Rocky Mountains. "From their performances on Happy Days and in the movie American Graffiti and their tours throughout America, they have been one of those great Colorado bands that has made us proud. Lannie Garrett equally has been putting on great music in this town for decades. Finally Sons and Brothers and Haunted Windchimes are two amazing Colorado grown artists that are just starting to make waves and really contribute the amazing stage of music in Colorado. I love this entire line up and I'm thrilled they are performing for the opening of Fillmore Plaza."
