Mentalist Paul Draper to Perform in Logan June 21st

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 10, 2011– Mentalist and Magician Paul Draper will be making a special appearance in Logan on Tuesday, June 21st at the invitation of the Cache Valley Conjurers, a Logan-based group of magicians. Draper will be giving a 45 minute public s auto part how at 7 p.m., followed by a private lecture for magicians only at 8 p.m. Admission to the public show is just $10. Both the performance and lecture will be at the Magical Moons Toys' Recital Hall at their new location, 1940 N Main, North Logan (the former location of The Piano Gallery).

Like television's popular "Mentalist", Paul Draper apparently reads minds and he's happy to show audien chrysler ces and journalists how he does it.  In "Mysteries of the Mi chevrolet nd," which Paul calls "a combination of lecture and performance," he teaches the audience members some of his techniques and lets them try to read each other's minds. Paul says his ability to read minds (part of a branch of magic called "mentalism") comes from his knowledge of people, which he's spent a lifetime acquiring in his work as an anthropologist, an actor/director and a diversity trainer. He also takes to heart the advice he heard from fellow mentalist Max Maven to "read everything."                 "I do not see how anyone can be truly successful in mentalism if they do not love learning," Paul said in an interview with Magic Magazine. "If we have the skill to read people's thoughts, we should know a lot about a lot of different subjects and areas.  We must know about astronauts and bus drivers; we must know something about the South if he is from Atlanta, or about Wisconsin if he is from Appleton, and hopefully something about those exact cities. We should know details about peoples' hobbies, interests and ideas that we could only know if we were peering into their minds." Paul is a sought-after Anthropology expert on Spiritualism and the paranormal. Paul's stage shows often include stories about his Anthropology field work with the Navajo in Arizona, the Yanomami tribes in South America and Spiritualists in Louisiana. Many of his mentalist techniques come from his observations of shamans and diviners across different cultures.   Often the simple sleight of hand tricks Paul does between his mind-reading feats will be imbued with deeper meaning by a story Paul tells from one of the cultures he has studied. In performing both simple and complicated tricks, he is careful to preserve "the moment of awe." "Growing up in magic, we enjoy the startled looks of amazement," Paul said. "That is our reward and it is heady stuff; so much so that it is easy to be satisfied with that. However, the moment of awe provides aston martin us with the opportunity to do something very special for our audience. We can instruct them, we can give a message; we can even serve as the catalyst for profound change. In the study of human interaction, I have come to recognize that magicians, shamans, through the ages have used this technique."     Paul's stage show draws on his experience in theatre as an actor, director and singer.  Although he graduated with a degree in Anthropology, Paul originally enrolled at Weber State to study musical theatre. After graduating, Paul moved to Las Vegas, where he taught at Anthropology at UNLV and continued to perform. When he's not performing magic, Paul performs and records professionally as a singer, and he sings in a deep, rich baritone as part of his stage show. Paul's show has been honed through thousands of performances. For many years, he was "on retainer" for the Venetian Hotel and Casino which has used him as a Venice Street Performer, an Asian Wizard in the Tao Nightclub and an emcee as well as having him perform his mentalist show whenever there was an open venue. The Venetian also sent Paul oversees to perform at its Macau location. Now a regular at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, Paul takes every possible opportunity to perform live. "Mentalism 1086274749  must be practiced in front of a live audience," Paul said. "It's not like performing a billiard ball routine, which can be polished in front of a mirror or video cameras. Mentalism is fluid. It is interactive by nature. The mentalist must be aware, in the moment and capable of making instant choices. This can only be learned under fire."

The “Cadillac Cares” Houston Challenge Volunteers Share How Charities Have Impacted Houstonians

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 01, 2011– According to volunteers with the three Houston charities competing in the "Cadillac Cares" Houston Challenge, the non-profits are making an impact in the community. The Children's Museum of Houston, Houston Food Bank and the YMCA of Greater Houston are competing for an award of $50,000 in advertising in the "Cadillac Cares" Houston Challenge, sponsored by the Houston Area Cadillac Dealers and running through June 6, 2011 on Facebook.

Each charity has its biography and a voting button on the Cadillac Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/HoustonAreaCadillacDealers. Each fan can cast a ballot for their favorite charity every day. The promotion began May 9 and runs through June 6. The charity with the most votes on June 6 will receive $50,000 in advertising.

A volunteer from each non-profit shares how they have seen their charity have an impact on Houstonians.

•   Children's Museum of Houston Pasadena resident Lupe Palacios has volunteered with the Children's Museum of Houston for 14 years. She has witnessed the effect the museum has on visiting teachers. "From an educator's standpoint, I have seen several teachers become better teachers. Those teachers go back to their home schools and help other teachers become better teachers, as well. I have heard many teachers comment about learning how to teach the same material in new and exciting ways after visiting the Children's Museum of Houston and/or attending a CMH workshop or presentation. The effects of CMH's educational focus are immeasurable."

•   Houston Food Bank Houston resident Marcus D. Chery has volunteered with the Houston Food Bank for two years and has been touched personally. "I have seen the Houston Food Bank change a person's life first hand with a former co-worker. The co-worker recently retired and does not receive enough funds from h bmw er Social Security check to pay bills and purchase food, so she depends on the Houston Food Bank community agency that distributes food to her once a week. My co-worker has told me that without the Houston Food Bank she would not know what she would do, because she has too much pride to ask her family for assistance and government assistance only approved $10 for her in food stamps. Just hearing that story alone makes me know that the Houston Food Bank is doing something major in the city of Houston!

•   YMCA of Greater Houston Houston resident David Goldstein has volunteered with the YMCA of Greater Houston for 10 years. He knows that positive can lead to more positive. "A few years back I listened to a father talk about his experience with one of the YMCA's father-daughter programs. At the introductory meeting, one of the other dads introduced himself by saying that he had been diagnosed with a terminal disease and had been given a year to live. He wanted to do something with his daughter that would provide the best and longest lasting memories of their time together, and he believed that YMCA program to be the b chevrolet est way to do that. They all shared that year together, and when the da acura .com/category/autopart">auto part d passed away, they continued to include his daughter and her mom in their activities. He was moved by the experience, and I was moved by the story."

The $50,000 media award in the "Cadillac Cares" Houston Challenge includes television, radio and print advertising.

The other two charities will receive a $1000 cash donation as well as public relations exposure 1086274749  during the challenge.

ElectraTherm Increases Power Output Range on Green Machine

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 01, 2011– ElectraTherm, a leader in small-scale heat-to-power generation, announced today that it has expanded the range of power output of its Series 4000 Green Machine generators by 15kW, now offering customers between 30-65kW of fuel-free, emission-free power from waste heat. The increased output stems from more than a year of inte corsa rnal product development and testing while monitoring existing fleet performance and operability.

ElectraTherm's patented technology captures low-grade waste heat using the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) cadillac to generate clean energy. The Series 4000 Green Machine is more robust, eas auto part ier to maintain, carries a NEMA 3R outdoor rating and incorporates fully automated controls with remote access capabilities via internet connection. The range of power, 30-65kW, can be generated from various  low to mid-temperature heat sources (190-240°F / 88-116°C) from reciprocating engines, biomass boilers, geothermal, solar thermal and industrial processes.

ElectraTherm's R&D efforts, combined with a proven fleet of machines already in the field, have exceeded 14,000 hours runtime. ElectraTherm operates 12 Green Machines internationally with eight machines scheduled to ship in the next quarter.

"ElectraTherm crossed over from R&D to full-scale commercialization by running our Green Machine tirelessly through varied testing parameters on our test cell," said John Fox, Chief Executive Officer of ElectraTherm. "The results speak for themselves: the Series 4000 is more robust, with a greater power output range and a growing backlog."

US President Barack Obama previewed ElectraTherm's Series 4000 Green Machine on April 21, 2011 when the President hosted a town hall meeting at ElectraTherm for more than 400 guests, including key legislators and clean energy advocates. President Obama touted energy from waste heat as a valuable resource for low dodge ering our dependence on fossil fuels.

"When you're talking about waste heat, every business, every industry, is generating some sort of 1086274749  energy byproduct, some sort of heat; it's going up in smoke stacks and nobody is using it," said President Obama. "And the question is, can we capture that energy and use it in a smart way?  That's what ElectraTherm is all about."

ElectraTherm's Series 4000 Green Machine will be on display at Power Gen Europe in the Renewable Energy Section, booth number R38C. The event takes place June 7-9, 2011 in Milan, Italy.

Boundless Movement-A production celebrating the centenary of the 1911 Revolution

PRLog (Press Release)– May 31, 2011– (HONG KONG REPERTORY THEATRE) The classic Boundless Movement - by renowned playwright Raymond To with consultant Chung King Fai and director Anthony Chan - will grace the Hong Kong stage again this season! The most recent revival of Boundless Movement, a play that epitomizes the courage and persistence of the Chinese people, has won numerous accolades in 2009. This upcoming production, featuring special guest stars Candice Yu and Liu Kai Chi along with HKRep members Poon Chan Leung, Ling Man Lung, Chan On Yin, Ko Hon Man and Lin Xiawei and numbering more than thirty actors on stage, will recreate this historical epic f alfa romeo or a third time for Hong Kong theatregoers. Boundless Movement will be presented at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre from 18th to 28th June. It is presented in Cantonese with Chinese and English surtitles. Tickets are now available from URBTIX outlets.

Boundless Movement premiered in 1988 by the HKRep, and in 2009, Raymond To revised his script for its revival. The plot centres on the Guangzhou uprising and the revolutionary martyrs of Huanghuagang, among them Lin Juemin, Wang Xing and Tan Renfeng. Although they came from different walks of life, each of them embodied the strength and patriotic spirit during those times of political turmoil. Raymond To, a master in depicting intricate human bonds, hopes that Boundless Movement not only educates a younger generation about history, but also resonates with the audience the patriotic commitment that marked China a century ago: "The 1911 Revolution was built on the failures of numerous uprisings and countless people sacrificing their lives. Nowadays we refer to many things in life as 'win-win' situations, but behind every success is sacrifice. And love itself also embodies sacrifice." In the play, revolutionary martyrs Lin Juemin (played by Poon Chan Leung), Xu Baosheng (played by Ling Man Lung) and Luo Kun (played by Ko Hon Man) had to make tough choices between patriotism and love. Together they show us how such sacrifice helped to build a modern nation. Director Anthony Chan, artistic director of the HKRep, harbours great hopes for this large-scale production: "Although it's been a hundred years since the Xinhai Revolution, everything is still closer to us than we think. Look at Hong Kong, where many historical sites of that period have been preserved. Our mounting this production is also a tribute; I believe this will touch many Hong Kong theatregoers."

Praised for its dramatic power and emotional force, Boundless Movement is the greatest testament to the power of teamwork. It features a cast of more than thirty performing on a revolving stage, wearing costumes and ornaments based on period designs, along with two television superstars Candice Yu and Liu Kai Chi making their debuts. Sparks will surely fly across the stage this June.
